MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that many types of relief including NOC, Chulha Tax have been given to the candidates for Panchayat elections, which was very necessary. He said that according to the Election Commission, there are many public/gazetted holidays during the period of filing nomination papers, such as 28.09.2024 (Saturday), 29.09.2024 (Sunday), 2.10.2024 (Gandhi Jayanti) and 3.10.2024 (Maharaj Agrasen Jayanti). As a large number of candidates are willing to apply for the posts of Sarpanch and Panch, the matter of simplifying the procedure for submission of affidavits along with the nomination papers by the willing candidates is attracting the attention of the Commission. MP Aujla informed that in this regard, in order to simplify the procedure for preparing affidavits relating to NOC regarding dues of the concerned authorities and unauthorised occupation of property, it is directed that the said affidavits issued under attestation and verification of Executive Magistrate/Oath Commissioner as well as Notary Public shall be accepted.

Further, if any dues are shown against any willing candidate as per the list, the candidate may provide proof of having paid the dues. If the candidate has not paid such dues, he/she will be given a reasonable opportunity to deposit such dues before the concerned authority and he/she will be given time to submit the due receipts till the beginning of the period of scrutiny i.e. 5th October, 2024 at 11 am.

MP Aujla said that the relief given by the Election Commission will help the candidates a lot. He said that Panchayat elections are very important for the development of villages. Only then will the face of villages change but in order to conduct elections in a proper manner, the Election Commission should also give instructions to the officials to conduct fair elections. Rise above party politics and provide relief to the people of the villages and guide every candidate.

He also told the candidates participating in the Panchayat elections that if they need any kind of help, they can contact him or his office.
