The vaccination drive is being carried out extensively by the district administration to defeat the Covid epidemic in the district, and in this vaccination drive all the institutions, panchayats of the district have joined hands with the district administration, health department to take the campaign to the pinnacle. The number of vaccinations issued for the prevention of Covid in the district has crossed one lakh.
Sharing this information Deputy Commissioner Vimal Kumar Setia said that under the enthusiasm, cooperation, hard work of health department and civil administration, awareness campaign shown by the people of the district, we are ahead of 14 districts in the state for immunization and on par with Patiala district.
He said that the commercial, social, religious organizations and panchayats of the district were getting full support in the vaccination drive due to which 1,03,325 people have been vaccinated in the district till date.
He asked the officers of all the departments including the health department to work with more vigor to bring the district in the forefront of immunization which facility is available at 86 government and private centers in the district .
The age group should be above 45 years at government health centers for people in this category. The vaccine is being given free of charge, he added.
He further said that in this series as per the directions of Punjab government a third phase vaccination campaign has been launched in the district in which construction workers aged 18 to 44 years, persons suffering from co-morbidities and family members of health workers were being vaccinated which is also completely free.
DC said that as per the instructions received from the government, the covid vaccination centers have been shifted from health institutions to educational or other institutions to provide open space to the people coming for vaccination and to prevent the spread of corona. He also appealed to the people of the district to get maximum vaccination for the prevention of disease and continue to take precautionary measures to stop further spread of virus.
