Mohali, June 15

Leading the district in COVID vaccination, village Bhajouli created a record here on Monday by covering hundred percent of its 18+ population.

Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan informed, “All villages are doing by and large good work in vaccination; five of our villages namely Tarouli, Rasoolpur, Barsalpur, Madanheri and Bahadurgarh have successfully covered 100% of the 45+ population while Bhajouli is leading the district by vaccinating its entire 18+ population.”

The population of village Bhajouli is 536, out of which 356 residents are above 18 years of age. Barring two persons, who have gone abroad, all eligible persons have been vaccinated today with at least one dose of vaccine.

The village panchayat has thus emerged pioneer among local civic bodies to be eligible for a special development grant of Rs 10 lakh, announced earlier by the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, for villages achieving cent per cent COVID vaccination target in Punjab.

Deputy Commissioner congratulated the village Panchayat and the residents and urged other villages of the district to put in their best efforts under ‘Corona Mukt Pind Abhiyan’ to get hundred percent people vaccinated so that we can weed out Covid19 from our society.

He appreciated the hard work done by the healthcare workers, the GoGs and the local administration that persuaded the eligible beneficiaries and organized special camps for them. “Hope more villages of our district will also soon attain 100 percent vaccinated status,” said Dayalan.
