Arvind Pal Singh Sandhu, Deputy Commissioner, Punjab held a meeting with the officers of various departments here today to address the issues related to environment and surroundings. “Efforts should be made to reduce pollution so that we can leave a better environment for our future generations,” he said. He also directed the authorities to ensure strict compliance of various orders issued by the National Green Tribunal.
During the meeting, Fazilka Municipal Council informed that 100 percent garbage was being collected from houses in the city. The same has been done by Abohar Nigam and 21 compost pits have also been set up where the waste is converted into compost. Similarly the Municipal Corporation is also taking strict measures to curb the sale of plastic envelopes. On the occasion the Deputy Commissioner also asked to complete the work of disposal of old city garbage as soon as possible. Similarly, new STP at Fazilka Acting Officer Rajneesh Kumar also informed about the formation. He said that its construction would start soon.
The meeting was also attended by Punjab Pollution Control Board’s XEN SS Dhaliwal and SDO Daljit Singh besides Chief Agriculture Officer Paramjit Singh.
