Market Committee to issue entry pass to farmers to avoid congestion in mandis

Taking precautionary measures in view of the surge in Covid cases, the administration has taken a decision to restrict the entry of farmers in the mandis against Entry Pass only to be issued by the Market Committees. Giving this information, Gurpal Singh Chahal, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur said, the wheat procurement by the Punjab government is likely to start from April 10 and all arrangements have been made in the mandis as a precautionary measure in view of corona pandemic by spraying the sanitizers in the mandis. DC said, all arrangements have been made in the mandis so that farmers may not face any problem, like the previous years. He said, the safety of the farmers is very important and the farmers will be issued passes by the market committee, through their commission agent to bring their crop on the particular date mentioned on the entry pass, to avoid congestion in the mandis. Making an appeal to the farmers, he asked the farmers to come to the mandis by wearing the mask or covering the nose and mouth with any piece of cloth, and maintain social distancing, to avoid getting infected or transmitting the virus. He also asked the farmers to follow the Covid guidelines in view of the increasing cases Covid in the district while coming to the mandi and bring the dry crop and the moisture contents should not exceed 12 percent.
