District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr. Mohinder Pal exercising his powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 has completely banned the use of hookah in any shop, hotel, restaurant, hookah bar and public place within the district. He said that the Director Health and Family Welfare, Tobacco Control Cell Punjab had complied with the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding the ban on hookah bars in the district. Section 144 of the IPC has been asked to apply. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly enforce this order on hookah bars within the district. This order will remain in force till November 30, 2020.
