Durga Puja festivities across the county mean beautifully decorated extravagant pandals, with organizers vying to out-do each other.

From replicas of famous architectural structures to eco-friendly ones, goddess Durga can be seen in a variety of carefully crafted set-ups, each with a different theme.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, ‘coronavirus’ themed pandals seem to be the ‘in-thing’, with the traditional Mahishasur avatar being replaced with that of ‘Coronasur’ to represent the forces of evil.

As quoted in India Times, instead of the traditional trident, the goddess is seen holding a giant syringe that is being used to kill the demon, while Lord Ganesh has taken the avatar of a police officer, and goddess Lakshmi has been depicted as a nurse. Goddess Saraswati has been shown as a teacher and Karthikey is depicted as a sanitation worker.
