Safety of women in our nation is a huge cause for concern, with the number of female abuse cases showing no signs of slowing down.

Uttar Pradesh government wants to solve this problem using Artificial Intelligence, Face Detection and Surveillance Cameras everywhere.

The Lucknow Police have announced that it is going to set upAI-enabled cameras that will capture images of women who are spotted being in distress. The camera’s AI-based facial recognition system will denote if the female is in distress and alert the nearest police station if necessary.

Dubbed Mission Shakti, Lucknow’s Police Commissioner, DK Thakur spoke about this novel system at the ‘Safe City’ initiative in a workshop named ‘Aashish: Abhay aur Abhyudaya’ at LU’s Tilak hostel on Wednesday.
