As per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority and Punjab Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, Jalandhar under the able guidance of the District and Sessions Judge-cum Chairman, Rupinderjit Chahal, on behalf of the District Legal Services Authority, Jalandhar, pending in the Judicial Courts on Saturday, Civil, Matrimonial National for adjudication of disputes, motor accident claim cases, compoundable cases of electricity law, traffic challans and criminal settlement matters and prelitigation matters of other institutions like banks, electricity department, Bharat Sanchar Nigam and financial institutions by way of agreement. Lok Adalat was organized.
Giving information in this regard, the District and Sessions Judge said that 18 benches were set up in Jalandhar district, 3 in Nakodar and 1 in Phillaur, in which total 7,525 cases related to the above categories were put up for hearing. Out of 1,369 cases were settled on the spot by way of agreement. In these cases, total disputes of Rs 260289295 (26 crore 2 lakh 89 thousand 295) were settled.
District and Sessions Judge Rupinderjit Chahal inspected 18 benches set up in Jalandhar. CJM with him -cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority Jalandhar Dr. Gagandeep Kaur was also present.
The specialty of this Lok Adalat was that in the divorce case of a 61-year-old woman, both the parties agreed to reunite with the efforts of the court. Four cases of check bounce, which were pending since 2005, were also settled by Lok Adalat.
Describing the importance of Lok Adalats, the District and Sessions Judge said that the objective of Lok Adalats is to provide quick and cheap justice to the people. The decision of the Lok Adalat is final and no appeal can be made against its decision. He said that no party loses but both sides win by deciding the disputes by Lok Adalats. He said that money and time are saved with the conduct of the Lok Adalats and brotherhood also increases.
The District and Sessions Judge also informed that the next National People’s Court will be held on 11.12.2021 at Jalandhar, Nakodar and Phillaur. People who want to get their court disputes settled by the court, they can give their application to the concerned court.

Deol, Chairman Permanent People Adalat (Public Useful Service), Sushma Devi, Civil Judge (Senior Division), Shaminder Pal Singh, Manmohan Bhatti, Damandeep Kamalhira, RS Teji, Bhupinder Mittal, Shilpa Singh, Ravinder Singh Rana, Hina Agarwal, Manu Singla, Amandeep Kaur and Prabhjot Kor (Group Civil Judge Sahiban), Jasbir Singh in Phillaur, Baljinder Kaur in Civil Judge Phillaur and Nakodar, SDJM Nakaudar, Khushdeep Kaur and Rajbinder Kaur appeared on behalf of Civil Judge Nakodar.
