Liquor smuggling in Chandigarh amid restrictions, 3 held

Despite strict restrictions in Chandigarh, liquor smuggling is not being curbed. Different police stations have arrested three accused from three places in their respective areas for smuggling liquor. A large quantity of English and country liquor has been recovered from the three accused arrested. The police released the three accused on bail after taking legal action under the sections of the Excise Act. In the first case, Sector-31 police station arrested Baldev Kumar alias Vicky, a resident of Raipur Khurd. Police have recovered 66 quarters and 10 English liquor bottles from the accused Vicky, arrested near CRPF Gate Bahalana. The police released the accused on bail from the police station. A case has also been registered against the accused under section 188. Second case Sector-31 police station arrested Bunty, a resident of Ramdarbar, for smuggling liquor. 444 quarters, 96 Havels and 40 bottles of English liquor have been recovered from the accused. The accused has been arrested near Plot No.-9 located in Industrial Area Phase-2. Third case Sector-49 police station arrested the accused Avinash. Eight bottles of country liquor have been recovered from Avinash, a resident of Sector-49C. The accused has been nabbed by the police on a U-turn near Sector-49. Youth arrested for roaming in Corona curfew without permission Maloya police station has arrested an accused roaming outside without permission during Corona curfew. The accused has been identified as Abhishek Thakral, a resident of Maloya Colony. After arresting the accused near Maloya stand, the police have registered a case under section 188.
