Four militants were killed in clashes with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama and Kulgam districts on Thursday. In the last 24 hours, five militants, including a senior Hizbul Mujahideen commander, have been killed by security forces in the Union Territory. In it, Kashmir Region Inspector General of Police (IPG) Vijay Kumar congratulated the security forces for conducting the operations without any casualties. Official sources said that on the basis of information about the presence of militants, the state police’s special operations team, Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a siege and search operation at Puchal in Pulwama on Wednesday night.
“After this, the security forces retaliated and the encounter started,” sources said, adding that two militants were killed in the encounter on Thursday morning. The contest continued till the final notice was received. There are special operations teams of the state police, National Rifles and CRPF. A clash between security forces and militants broke out in the Jodar area of Kulgam on Thursday morning during a joint search operation by the police. “Two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants have been killed so far in the encounter,” the sources said. Mehrajuddin Halwai alias Ubaid, a senior Hezbollah commander, was killed in an encounter during a roadblock search in Handwara in Kupwara district on Wednesday.
