Jammu and Kashmir: Arms and ammunition recovered from terrorist aides

Police arrested two accomplices of the militants from Srinagar National Highway in Jammu and Kashmir and recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition including two AK-56 rifles, 10 pistols and nine grenades from them. After receiving intelligence, police set up a check post near Lovermunda in Qazigund on the 280-km-long Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, police officials said on Sunday. Police stopped a Kashmir tipper at the check post and recovered two AK-56 rifles, eight AK-47s from him during the search. Magazine, 10 M. M. Pistol magazines, grenades were recovered. He said the driver was identified as Zahid Navi and another was identified as Mehrajuddin Dar. Both are residents of Sambora Kakapora in Pulwama, who have been arrested by the police. Initial investigations revealed that both the accused were accomplices or accomplices of the terrorists. He said a case has been registered at Qazigund police station and further investigation is underway.
