Jalandhar DC asks officials to ensure completing of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway on time

Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today asked the officials to expedite the declaration of the award under section 3(G) of the National Highways Act for the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway so that execution of this mega project could be completed within the stipulated time-frame.

Participating in a virtual review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Vinni Mahajan, the deputy commissioner apprised her about the latest situation on all four highway projects falling in the district including Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur four-laning project, Panipat-Jalandhar six-laning project, Delhi-Katra expressway, and Delhi-Katra expressway Amritsar connectivity projects.

He said that the 3(D) notification for Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway has already been issued by the respective competent authorities of land acquisition (CALAs), however, the process of 3(G) notification was underway adding he asked the concerned CALAs to expedite the award declaration of this project so that the execution of this mega project could be ensured within stipulated time-frame.

Giving information about the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur four-laning project, the deputy commissioner said that the administration was taking possession of the acquired land and the same was being provided to the PWD (central division) for construction of the highway. He further mentioned that some of the shopkeepers have requested to vacate the structures after the Diwali festival, thus the remaining possession would be taken over by November 15, 2020, adding the notice of 3(A) for this project was issued on October 30, 2020. The deputy commissioner added that the 3(D) notification of Delhi-Katra Expressway (Amritsar connectivity) would be published on November 16, 2020, after giving a hearing to the objections on this project.

The deputy commissioner said that the work related to the land acquisition, payment of awards to the landowners, transfer of land to the highway authorities were being done in full swing, and these tasks to be completed within a given period. The district administration was according utmost priority to all these highway projects as these highways would cater to the traffic problems and provide people with the fastest access to the other districts
