The district administration today held draws for issuing 20 temporary licenses to the people for selling the firecrackers in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Police Commissionerate.
The draw for issuing the licenses was held at Red Cross Bhawan in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar,
Deputy Commissioner of Police Balkar Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh.
The licenses were issued through a draw in a transparent and fair manner in the presence of the general public.
On the other hand, no license was issued for selling the crackers in rural areas outside the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate.
A total of 310 applications were received for the temporary licenses out of which four were rejected.
As per the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, temporary licenses were to be restricted to 20% of the licenses.
The commissionerate police had invited applications for 20 temporary licenses for the sale of fire crackers at Burlton Park, Jalandhar on October 14.
