International Nurses’ Day observed in government health institutions of Mohali

International Nurses Day was observed on Thursday in various government health institutions across the district. Civil Surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur said that this day is celebrated every year to salute the exemplary contribution of nurses in providing health care services to the people. She said that the contribution of the nurses was appreciated by cutting the cakes during the simple ceremonies held in various health institutions in the district. She added that this day is celebrated on the 12th of May every year but in fact, every day is the day of nurses. During the Corona pandemic, the nursing staff provided exemplary and selfless health care services to the Covid patients. Those were the days when family members were afraid to visit the patients but the nurses provided health care to the Covid patients without any fear for their own lives.

The civil surgeon said that nurses are the lifeblood of any health institution and no health institution can be imagined without them. She said it is due to their immense contribution that the Covid pandemic is now under control. She said the invaluable contribution of the nurses in providing quality and excellent health services to the people could never be forgotten.
