HWCs to be set up in all districts for health and well-being of police personnel: DGP Gupta

An important decision has been taken by the Punjab Police keeping in view the health of the employees. Now in all the districts of the state. Health and Wellness Centers will be set up. It is also proposed to set up this center in all armed police and police training centers. The HWC will have a physiotherapy center and counseling room, indoor gym, outdoor gym, meditation, and yoga space, so that police personnel can be given proper health advice. This information was given by Punjab Police Chief D. G. P. Dinkar Gupta told. The DGP said that when police personnel works in stressful situations, they face a number of problems such as fatigue and stress, which can lead to serious health issues. Disclosing this here today, he said that Rs. 2.97 crores has already been earmarked from the budget for setting up of HCWs in the first phase. Ludhiana and C.P. From the next financial year, Rs. 2 lakh would be set aside for each district for organizing annual health and fitness programs. He said that under this entire campaign a committee would also be constituted to organize the health and wellness program and ensure that all the police personnel posted in the district would get the opportunity to participate in the program at least once a year. Gupta said the 5-7 days of health and wellness programs at the health and fitness centers would be conducted by health professionals including psychiatrists who would recommend physical exercise, nutritious diet, and counseling to the police personnel for lifestyle changes for better health. He hoped that this establishment will go a long way in improving the health of the police personnel.
