All the vegetable vendors came together to protest against the double market fee levied by the Market Committee Tanda and Halqa. Incharge Arvinder Singh Rasoolpur informed the Shiromani Akali Dal Badal Tanda about their problems.
Shopkeepers while talking to the press said that they are being charged market fee again by the employees of the market committee while they are buying vegetables from Jalandhar. He said that he sells vegetables with ropes and he does not earn enough to pay market fee in two places. He demanded from the government that he should pay the market fee as per the government instructions. There are monthly fees, they are willing to pay but they cannot pay the market fee in two places every day. He demanded from the government that they should be asked to pay the market committee fee only once.
Talking to Surinder Singh, Accountant of the Marketing Committee, he said that they charge a one time market fee only if the shopkeepers do not show any receipt for the vegetables or fruits purchased from other places.
