Hoshiarpur police arrested four persons, who had looted Rs 6.5 lakh cash from a Mahilpur resident by putting chilli powder in his eyes. The police also recovered all the looted money along with a motorcycle from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Baljinder Singh, Sahil, a resident of Kot Fatuhi, Rohit, a resident of Ghugra and Prabhjot Singh, a resident of Binjon.

Navjot Singh Mahal, SSP Hoshiarpur while addressing the press correspondents informed that the district police had started a special drive to catch the snatchers and bad elements in the area. On July 13, Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Mahilpur had complained that while two of his workers Baljinder Singh and Balwinder Singh were going back to their homes after withdrawing Rs 6,50,000/- from Capital Bank on their bike, three unknown persons put red chilli powder in their eyes near Milan Palace and looted the bag containing money and fled away. An FIR no. 122 dated 13/7/2021 u/s 379B IPC PS Mahilpur was registered due to this incident there was an environment of fear amongst the people of nearby area.

Acting promptly, a team comprising Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu PPS SP Investigation Hoshiarpur along with Tushar Gupta IPS ASP Garhshankar, Insp. Shiv Kumar 1/C CIA and SHO Mahilpur Sub-Insp Satwinder Singh was constituted which, in a very technical and professional way, traced the case in just 24 hours. The team arrested the accused worker Baljinder Singh along with his three accomplices and recovered the looted money from their possession.

Mahal said that complainant Rajesh Kumar has a shoe store in Kot Fatuhi and he also runs a business of Western Union foreign exchange. He usually sent his workers namely Baljinder Singh and Balwinder Singh to the bank to withdraw money. Greed crept into the minds of his workers and under the lure of obtaining easy money they hatched a conspiracy with other arrested accused namely Sahil, Rohit and Prabhjot. They planned their act on Sunday and also showed them the place where the incident would be done. On July 13, they, like always, withdrew the money from the bank as per the instructions of their master Rajesh Kumar. They after withdrawing the money informed Sahil, Suresh and Prabhjot that they had started from Kot Fatuhi at about 3:30 PM and as per their plan staged the act of Snatching. As per the instructions of Baljinder they hid the looted money in a straw room at the residence of Prabhjot Singh from where it was recovered by the district Police. The accused have remanded in the police custody for further questioning.
