Sangrur, January 14: Additional District Magistrate Mr. Anmol Singh Dhaliwal using his powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 has imposed a complete ban on the operation of hookah bars in the district. He said that Civil Surgeon Sangrur had brought to his notice that in many places people were trying to push the youth towards drugs by running hookah bars.

Some restaurants / hookah bars offer hookah to visitors, which has a detrimental effect on human health and especially young people in schools and colleges. These hookah bars are giving young children many other harmful drugs besides tobacco, which are extremely harmful to human health. In addition, these hookah bars do not comply with anti-smoking laws.
In his orders, he made it clear that no one should be allowed to tamper with the health of citizens. This order issued under section 144 will remain in force till March 15.
