In the wake of the corona epidemic, the health department is making every effort to prevent its spread among disinfected people. Civil Surgeon, Dr. Jasmeet Bawa quoted that the health department was fully vigilant about the health of the inmates living in the central jail Kapurthala and every precaution was being taken in the jail to prevent the spread of coronavirus inside jail premises as well. The medical officers and pharmacists in the jail were being trained to take samples in order to pool sampling daily so that no suspected patients were left behind.
The Civil Surgeon also said that female and male isolation wards have been set up in jail with a capacity of 20 beds. She also said that there was a hand washing and sanitizer facility at the entrance of the jail and at the entrance of each barrack so that hands could be cleaned before entering. Not only this, the jail has also given instructions that no one should live without a mask. Medical staff is instructed to wear gowns, masks, gloves, etc.
The Civil Surgeon said that the co-operation of all was essential to curb the spread of the disease and that co-operation could be done by following the guidelines issued by the government from time to time regarding coronavirus.
