Amritsar, November 21

MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, while directly taunting the Punjab government, said that for the first time in the history of Sri Guru Nanak Dev University, it is running without a vice-chancellor. He said that this has happened for the first time in 55 years and it has been possible only under the Aam Aadmi Party government.

The term of Sri Guru Nanak Dev University Vice Chancellor Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu ended on November 16, 2024. He was appointed by Captain Amarinder Singh in 2017. After that in 2020, his term was extended for three years. Then six months ago, former Governor Banwari Lal Purohit gave him an extension of 6 months. After that, five days have passed since his term ended but a new VC has not been appointed yet.

MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that the Punjab government claims to raise the level of education but it is far from reality. The Punjab government has also delayed those decisions which should be taken on the basis of initiative. This shows that the government is not serious on any issue and is using education only for its own benefit.

MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that if the government really wants to work for the welfare of the people, then it should take timely decisions on such issues. The Vice Chancellor of the University is a very important post, whose vacancy is harmful for education. That is why he demands that the Punjab government should leave aside the non-essential issues and focus on the important issues of Punjab and appoint a Vice Chancellor as soon as possible.
