Inderjit Singh, grandson of Giani Zail Singh, former president of India along with a large number of his supporters joined BJP Punjab in the presence of Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
Joining the party, Inderjit said that today he has fulfilled the wishes of his grandfather Giani Zail Singh.
He further expressed that even after being loyal to the Congress party for many years, the party didn’t treat him well. Singh shared that grandfather always wanted him to continue with his political career under BJP.
“I’m not joining the party for any vested interest. I will try to fulfill any responsibility that the party will assign me,” Inderjit Singh said.
He added that under BJP he primarily wants to work for the people of Punjab. Singh however avoided answering media questions related to farmers’ agitation against the three farm bills.
While welcoming Inderjit Singh in the party-fold, Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that Inderjit Singh joining the BJP will surely strengthen the party’s ground in Punjab.
“Inderjit Singh has been a part of many social activities and engaged in many welfare activities. He is a respected figure in the society. His joining BJP will definitely help the party in reaching greater heights in Punjab,” Puri said.
