The Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has offered subsidy to the farmers for the implementation of water saving techniques like fountain or drip irrigation project.
The Deputy Commissioner of the district Vimal Kumar Setia has appealed to the farmers to avail the benefits of this scheme. He said that drip irrigation system was a boon for the orchards whereas micro irrigation techniques save a lot of water and also result in good crop production. And this subsidy will be given through the Department of Land and Water Conservation.
Disclosing this here today Divisional Land Defense Officer Vijay Kumar Singla said that 80 per cent subsidy would be given to the common farmers for installation of sprinkler and drip irrigation system. While Scheduled Castes, Women, Small and Marginal Farmers will get 90 per cent subsidy. A farmer making more than fell without milegiisa subsidy to 5 acres on the subsidy to more than 50 percent, or more than Rs 75,000 is being given by the government to farmers.
In this regard, the land defense department of Faridkot SDO Jagsir Singh said that the interested farmers could submit their applications at the office of the Deputy Commissioner or at the office of the Land Defense Officer. He said that the farmers could apply on ordinary paper giving details of their land, crop etc. After which these applications would be scrutinized by the committee formed at the district level and the department would prepare a project report of the applications which would be found eligible by the district level committee and provide subsidy to the farmers.
