The Government Senior Secondary School (Girls) at Mall road, Bathinda will get a new building with top-class facilities, said Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal on earlier today.
The Finance minister accompanied by Secretary Education Krishan Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Bathinda B Niwasan while reviewing the status of educational schemes in the district at the school campus announced this building project. The Finance Minister said that as of now a total of 2,200 girls are studying in this school and the new building would aim at serving the strength of 5,000 students, which will put this school in the list of world-class schools of the state adding he said that the whole project would be completed at a cost of Rs. 10 crore.
Divulging more, the FM said under the revamped project of the school, it would get one administrative block, 150 classrooms, laboratories, a library and canteen besides an auditorium and multi-story parking. The capacity of the school to be more than doubled, the school will also have modern e-learning facilities, he added.
Badal further directed the officials to provide furniture for the students besides asking district education officers to prepare a detailed project report with respect to the requirement of other basic infrastructure in the school so that these demands could be fulfilled in a time-bound manner. Pointing out further about the other education projects, the FM said that the government was already upgrading 10 schools of the city with a cost of Rs. 17.12 crore.
