Former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Jagmohan passes away

Former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Jagmohan Malhotra has died in Delhi. He was 94 years old. Apart from being the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Jagmohan was also a Union Minister. He was also the Deputy Governor of Delhi and Goa. Jagmohan was also elected to the Lok Sabha. Jagmohan has twice served as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He held the post from 1984 to 1989 and again in 1990 from January to May. As Governor, Jagmohan took several tough decisions in the Valley and also formulated an operation strategy against the terrorists. He also tried to stop the atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits, though they faced opposition from local leaders. In 2004, Arun Shourie said, “It was Jagmohan who saved the valley for India.” He gradually restored statehood and drove out the terrorists.
