Rohtak, June 20
Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has urged the Union Government to withdraw the Agnipath scheme in the larger interest of the country and its youth.
“The move cannot be justified by citing examples of countries like Israel as the circumstances of India and Israel are completely different. India faces a huge problem of unemployment, which is not the case with Israel. Hence, the government should withdraw the scheme instead of giving hollow justifications,” he maintained. The former Chief Minister was addressing a news conference at Rohtak on Sunday. Questioned about the BJP leaders asserting that the Agnipath scheme is in the nation’s interest, Hooda stated that when the agriculture-related laws were enacted, the BJP leaders had maintained that those would be beneficial for the farmers.
