Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi on Thursday said that failure of Wednesday’s rally was a reflection of the fact that wise Punjabis have out rightly rejected the divisive and hatred agenda of BJP.

Addressing the gathering here after laying the foundation stone of several developmental works, the Chief Minister said that the fact that only 700 people were present in the rally where 70,000 chairs were placed shows mounting resentment in the minds of people against the Modi government. He said that the vacant chairs showed a mirror to BJP and it’s entire leadership about their failure to gauge public sentiment. CM Channi said that Punjabis have made up their mind to teach haughty BJP leaders a lesson in the ensuing assembly polls adding that the flop show of BJP was precursor to it.

The Chief Minister said that there was no security lapse during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state but the PM cancelled the visit in wake of poor presence in BJP’s rally. He said that the stipulated protocol was followed during the visit. CM Channi said that he had himself supervised the necessary arrangements for the visit of the PM.

The Chief Minister said that as per program the PM was to travel via air from Bathinda to Ferozepur. However, he said that making a last minute change in the program Prime Minister then all of the sudden decided to travel by road. CM Channi said that though the state government had made entire arrangements for this too but keeping in view the thin presence of people in the rally, the PM cancelled his visit citing road blockage.

Slamming the Akalis, Chief Minister said that during their decade long rule Akali leaders have plundered the state. He said that the Akalis left no stone unturned to spread the drug trade in the state due to which the lives of youth were ruined. CM Channi said that the Punjabis will never forgive Akalis for these sins.

Taking AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal to cudgels, the Chief Minister said that he was a rumor monger who wants to plunder the wealth of the state. He said that Kejriwal and company are harmful for the state and its people. CM Channi warned people to beware of the nefarious designs of Kejriwal and his coterie.

The Chief Minister further said that Punjab has witnessed a revolutionary change as for the first time power has been given to a common man like him instead of any landlord or Royal person. He said that his government aims to ensure equal opportunities to all and access of everyone to the resources of the state. CM Channi said that as a part of pro-people policies of state government Power bill arrears worth Rs. 1500 crore have been waived, Power rates for domestic consumers have been reduced by Rs. 3 per unit, Bills to the tune of Rs. 1200 crore have been waived off in respect of motors in rural areas, water charges brought down to Rs. 50 and Rates for sand have been reduced a lot.
