Ferozepur police recover 5 kg heroin from 3 smugglers’ gang members

Following crackdown of smugglers’ gang ahead of Republic Day celebrations and intensive checking over bad elements in view of coming Assembly elections joined by the police and district administration, the police today recovered 5 kg heroin smuggled in India from Pakistan and kept hidden in the houses, as a share of one of the gang member, with the arrest of the third accomplice Balwinder Singh.

Earlier, the recovery of Rs.80,000 fake currency notes in denomination of Rs.2,000, pistol 30 bore Made in China with 25 live cartridges, five mobiles, one dongle, one Maruti 800 car, 3 stolen motorcycles, and 400 ft plastic rope with the arrest of two smugglers’ gang.

Addressing the media persons jointly by SSP Narender Bhargava and DC Girish Dayalan said, the CIA sleuths during further investigation, on five days’ police remand, nabbed Balwinder Singh with the recovery of 5 kg heroin as a part of earlier recovery and kept hidden, due to tight security arrangements, for the further delivery it to further destination, as per orders from the suppliers, in view of Republic Day celebrations.

Out of the total consignment, 2 kg heroin kept hidden in was recovered from the house of accused Vikram, 2 kg from Arun Bhatti at village Bare Ke, and kg from Balwinder Singh from near Gang Canal bank.

SSP said, the fourth accused – Tek Chand – will also be arrested shortly. All the accused had links with their counterparts in Pakistan and arranged the consignments in a planned manner. More recoveries are expected during further investigation.
