Farmers to protest against ‘violent’ police action in Hisar on this date

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha informed that the farmers will hold a protest against the action of police on farmers, on May 24. On May 16, a major clash broke out between police and protesting farmers here in Hisar after the latter protested against Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at an event here. The police used tear gas to disperse the protesting farmers. “Haryana police had taken violent action against the farmers, who were opposing Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Hisar, Haryana. Many farmers were injured in this incident and many farmers were arrested. On the same day, after intensive protest from the farmers, the police decided not to register any case against the farmers, but the police later filed cases against more than 350 farmers. Chief Minister violated the covid guidelines and did this program for his ego satisfaction,” stated SKM. Farmers’ organizations of Haryana have decided that the Hisar Commissionerate will be gheraoed on 24 May 2021. For this, all farmers will gather at Krantiman Park at 10 am on 24th May. Samyukta Kisan Morcha appeals to the farmers of nearby areas to reach in maximum number. Farmers are demanding that strict action should be taken against the police individuals of all level, who attacked the farmers inhumanly and brutally and opposed the demonstrations of the farmers with the help of lathi-charge, tear gas, and stone-pelting and a case should be registered against the Chief Minister who did this program by bypassing and violating the covid Guidelines. Along with the farmer leaders of Haryana, the senior leaders of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha from Punjab and other states will also join this protest. Samyukat Kisan Morcha has called for 26 May to celebrate the day of protest across the country and appealed to all the fellow citizens to put the black flags on their houses and vehicles and burn effigies of the Modi government. Since this day also marks the “Buddha Purnima”, the celebration of Lord Buddha’s birth, nirvana, and Parinirvana, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha has decided that the Buddha Purnima will be celebrated in its way on all protest sites on that day. On the completion of 6 months of the Kisan movement on the borders of Delhi and 7 years to the Modi government, SKM had decided to hoist black flags on this day as a protest against the Modi government. On this day, “We appeal fellow citizens to oppose the anti-farmer and anti-people Modi government by placing black flags on houses, shops, vehicles, and social media platforms and to burn effigies of the Modi government on this day. Trade unions, student organizations, and many democratic organizations of the country are openly supporting this campaign. We once again appeal to the citizens to protest against the Modi government on this day so that the government can withdraw its anti-people decisions and fulfill its responsibility that people have given to them,” said SKM. “Abhay Sandhu, son of farmer Bhagat Singh’s brother Kulbir Singh, passed away on 15th May. Abhay Sandhu was part of many people’s movements in his life. He was also an important voice of this farmers movement. He was honored by Samyukta Kisan Morcha on the “Pagdi Sambhal Diwas”. Tomorrow, there will be the final prayer for him in Mohali and at the same time, farmers protesting on Delhi borders will also pay tribute to him,” informed farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal.
