Farmers call off 169-day dharna at Jandiala

Amritsar three farm laws rejected the demand to take Jandiala farmers protest running at Guru struggle organizing committee has decided to withdraw today. The dharna has been going on for the last 169 days and will end today.

Sarwan Singh Pandher, State Secretary, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, released a video to the media stating that the farmers need tractors till the harvest of the wheat crop and the sowing of the paddy so that the dharna can be called off till the sowing of the paddy. The decision has been taken by the state committee.

In fact, the dharna started from the railway track of Devidaspura village. The farmers had started the ‘Stop Rail Movement’ and later it was shifted to Jandiala Guru Railway Station due to winter weather. After this, although the farmers had evacuated the railway track, the dharna continued in a ground adjacent to the railway track. The dharna, which has been going on for the last 169 days, will be called off by this evening.

The agitation on the Kundli border of Delhi for repeal of agriculture laws will continue as before. People are participating in the agitation as before. It may also be mentioned here that if the laws are not repealed then any major announcement can be made by the farmers’ association at any time after the harvesting of wheat and sowing of paddy.
