Farmers after holding a protest over their demands financial compensation to the families of Delhi Morcha victims, jobs to one family member and waiving of loans, for three days in front of SDM office and now entered the second day on Ferozepur-Fazilka GT Road. They also condemned the new condition for not giving the ‘Fard’ for the coming paddy procurement season.
Added here, Farmers have been protesting on different borders of the national capital since November 26 against the three newly enacted farm laws – Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
Dharam Singh, farmers spokesman said, we regret the inconvenience caused to the public due to road blockage but we have no alternative to register our protest as none of the district administration the officer has come for a dialogue over our demands.
Addressing the protesters, Satnam Singh Pannu District President, Inderjit Singh Bath, Ranbir Singh Rana accusing the district administration and Punjab government said it is very unfortunate that none of the officials has come forward to talk with them. Earlier the government had announced Rs.5 lac financial assistance to the farmers who died during the Delhi Morcha besides job to one family member and waiving of the entire loan amount but now the government has backed out from its commitment.
Farmers are protesting for the last five days to extend financial assistance and other benefits as committed earlier to the families of victims, Jarnail Singh Pipli Chak, Mehal Singh Sharinwala and Luvpreet Singh Swaike, they added.
