The Principal of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, Dr. Deepak John Bhatti termed the reports published in a section of the media as baseless, in which Ashok Kumar, a patient from Ferozepur, who had recently died due to coronavirus, was mentioned admitted to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot from last month.
Principal Dr. Bhatti said that the patient Ashok Kumar referred by Ferozepur Civil Surgeon to Faridkot was brought to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College on the night between May 1 and 2 on suspicion of lung problem and coronavirus infection. He died before he reached the hospital. As he was suspected to have Coronavirus, his samples were taken and the dead body was kept as per the protocols. The information was given to the concerned Civil Surgeon Ferozepur and the dead body was sent back as per the protocol.
He said that some media platforms reported that the patient was admitted to GGS Medical College a month or two ago and died here which is completely wrong. Principal Guru Gobind Singh Medical College has notified Deputy Commissioner Kumar Saurabh Raj and VC Baba Farid University in this regard.
