Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today inaugurated the Phase 2 of the Punjab Smart Village Campaign on October 17. This information was given by the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Vimal Kumar Setia, IAS after a meeting with the district officers to review the arrangements made. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr. Preet Mahinder Singh Sahota was also specially present on the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner said that under Smart Village scheme all the 243 Gram Panchayats of the district would be covered. In these villages street drains, community halls, construction of Dharamshalas, school fences, civil dispensaries, bus queue shelters, ditches in dhanis, pipelines, drainage drains to ponds etc. would be undertaken.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to ensure that no more than 100 persons attend these functions and to ensure compliance with the guidelines issued by the Kovid epidemic government. Instructing the officials, he said that any kind of negligence in these functions would not be tolerated.
