Faridkot : Awareness van departs under sweep campaign

A district level function was organized at Government Brijidra College, Faridkot on the occasion of National Voters’ Day with Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Mr. Vimal Kumar Setia as the Chief Guest. On this occasion he gave green signal to the awareness van under sweep activities. On this occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Gurjit Singh, SDM Madam Poonam Singh was specially present.

On this occasion the Deputy Commissioner said in his address that National Voters Day has been celebrated on 25th January every year since 2011 in connection with the establishment of Election Commission of India. “Every 18-year-old citizen of India has been given the right to vote in accordance with the Constitution and our Constitution has given us the power to vote which we can use to secure the future,” he said.

He said that it was the duty of every citizen to choose the right candidate impartially so that democracy could be strengthened. He appealed to the youth in particular to make themselves and their representatives aware of the proper use of it besides making the vote of themselves and their representatives.
