Under the guidelines issued by the Punjab Government District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyat today exempted some essentials shops and activities in the district till 5 pm on Monday (excluding weekly curfew from 6 am on Friday to 5 am on Monday). The orders include shops selling fertilisers, seeds, pesticides, agricultural machinery, agro-horticultural equipment, etc., as well as grocery, retail and wholesale liquor shops (but premises will not open), industrial materials, hardware items, equipment, motors, pipes, etc. are discounted.
She said that for the purpose of the same works which have been sanctioned during this period, the movement of persons on foot and bicycle is exempted while in the case of drivers, a valid identity card can be used and in case of non-availability of identity card, e-pass must be displayed on the vehicle which should be created in advance on the website (https://pass.pais.net.in
). She said that legal action will be taken against those violating the rules under Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 under Section 188 of the IPC.
