District-level teams of Excise Department of Gurdaspur conducted a large scale raid at village Maujpur, block Kahnuwan for the second day in a row and recovered a large quantity of illicit liquor. About 12000 kgs of raw material for making liquor, 10 plastic cans, 2 drums were recovered.
Disclosing this here today ETO of Excise Department Lovejinder Singh Brar said that on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ishfaq and AETC Gurdaspur Rajwinder Kaur Bajwa strict action would be taken against the peddlers of illicit liquor in the district.
As a result, Tehsildar Harwinder Singh Gill, Excise Inspector Harwinder Singh, Ajay Kumar, and Inspector Sukhbir Singh led a raid at village Maujpur and recovered and destroyed 12000 kgs of raw material for making liquor.
He said that the police team from Bhaini Mian Khan and 62 laborers from the police station destroyed the storage tanks. He said that the team had crossed the Beas river by boat and recovered the liquor. He said that the raids would be continued by the department and strict action would be taken against the smugglers.
