As was done by US resident Thaminder Singh Anand and Canadian resident Onkar Singh distorting Gurbani for self-interest, the same has been done by the DSGMC ex-President Avtar Singh Hit and ex-General Secretary Kulmohan Singh who handed over the translation of Guru Granth Sahib in 17 different languages to one Dr. Vemuraju Bhanu Murty and later did huge damage and act of sacrilege was committed by Hit, Kulmohan Singh and Dr. Bhanu Murty. This startling disclosure was made by DSGMC present President Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon.
In a statement issued here, Kalka and Kahlon said that Hit and Kulmohan Singh got published 17000 booklets in 17 different languages 1000 each in each language with distorted Gurbani as per their whims and fancies and these were distributed to the public. They said that they were unaware of the matter but when during their last press conference a specific question about Bhanu Murty was asked they decided to get the matter checked. When they did check it was shocking disclosures were made. It emerged that Hit and Kulmohan Singh gave the responsibility of translating Guru Granth Sahib into 17 different languages to one Dr. Vemuraju Bhanu Murty who knew only Telugu and English and was totally ignorant of Punjabi, Panth, Panthic traditions, and Gurmaryada. Neither Hit thought it wise to consult Sri Akal Takht Sahib or SGPC. They got published 17000 booklets of different languages each of one language and distributed them to Sangat. During translation, Bhanu Murty changed the grammar of Gurbani and made corrections as per his whims and fancies resulting in serious distortion and sacrilege.
As this was not enough on Gurbani distortion and committing a sing, both Hit and Kulmohan Singh awarded Bhanu Murth with ‘Sahib Singh ji’ award in name of a great Sikh intellectual. They said that this gross violation, distortion and sacrilege was committed 20 years ago but this emerged as a role model for Thaminder Singh Anand and Onkar who did the same after 20 years.
They disclosed that one Naujawan Khalsa Phulwari, whose leader Avtar Singh was also present during the PC, had filed a complaint against this action of Hit and Kulmohan Singh on January 5, 2005, to the then Akal Takht Jathedar but no action was taken against them. Later they also filed a reminder with Akal Takht Sahib about their complaint on March 7, 2005, but that too got unheard.
Kalka and Kahlon disclosed that today DSGMC team led by them filed a new complaint with concrete evidence including CDs of distorted Gurbani to Giani Harpreet Singh and has urged him to take immediate action against Hit and his accomplice as per panthic traditions and after due consultations with panthic bodies as was done in case of Thaminder Singh Anand and Onkar Singh. They said that the present team of DSGMC is ready to extend every cooperation in this regard.
Responding to queries from the media, S. Kalka and S. Kahlon said that Giani Harpreet Singh has directed them to take back the award given to Dr. Bhanu Murty. They disclosed that Jathedar was surprised at the actions of Hit.
Responding to different queries, they said that Akal Takht Sahib was supreme for them and they will abide by every direction of the Takht.
They also lashed out at Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal for repeatedly bestowing positions to Avtar Singh Hit when the latter was the only person who has been summoned at Akal Takht for maximum times. On the occasion, CD was played and booklets published by Hit and his team were also shown to the media.
They also disclosed that we have urged Giani Harpreet Singh that till the time matter against him was decided, Avtar Singh Hit should be directed to give up his post of President of Takht Sahib Committee and he should be barred from participating in Panthis congregations.
They also congratulated the whole Khalsa Panth for today’s panthic gathering called as per the direction of Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib.
On the occasion, MP Singh Chadha President Akali Dal Delhi state, DSGMC Vice President Atma Singh Lubana, Executive member Vikram Singh Rohini, DSGMC members Sarvjit Singh Virk, Sukhbir Singh Kalra, Jasbir Singh Jassi, Surjit Singh Jeeti, Gurdev Singh, Bhupinder Singh Ginni, Satinderpal Singh Nagi, Harjit Singh Pappa, Gurmeet Singh Bhatia, Joint Secretary Jasmain Singh Noni and other leaders were also present.
