Chander Gaind, Divisional Commissioner, Patiala Division, today started the review of COVID-19 arrangements and vaccination in the districts of Patiala Division by holding first meeting with Patiala District Administration, Health and Government Medical College authorities. He said that he would soon conduct such meetings with other districts of the division for taking stock of COVID arrangements on place, in coming days to keep a close eye on the situation.
After chairing a meeting with Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Amit and other officials, Chander Gaind said that for the proper care of COVID patients, government and private hospitals in the district have adequate Level-2 and Level-3 facilities besides sufficient number of vacant beds, Medical oxygen, ventilator equipped beds etc. All other arrangements, including stock of essential medicines, are well underway, while the vaccination campaign for administering the COVID vaccine is in full swing.
He further said that as many as 480 Level-2 beds were made available in Government Hospitals including Government Rajindra Hospital, out of which 312 are still available. Similarly, 78 out of 100 Level-3 beds are in use. Similarly, 127 out of 169 Level-2 beds in private hospitals have been used and 31 out of 49 Level-3 beds have been occupied.
He said that apart from this, the number of tests has been increased as per the directions of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to check the COVID cases and to ensure their contact tracing and now 2.54 lakh persons per Million population are being tested. Out of which, as on April 22, 29056 positive cases were reported. Out of these positive cases, as many as 21823 cases were put in home isolation, out of which 3092 are still active.
Gaind also appealed to the people not to panic as the situation in Patiala district was under control. Apart from this, the district administration has been keeping a close watch on the situation from all angles and at the same time the Punjab Government, Departments of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education and Research, have been working day and night for the treatment and care of COVID infected patients. He also asked the people to extend their fullest cooperation to the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for the success of Mission Fateh launched to make the state COVID-19 free by taking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
Chander Gaind sought detailed information from the Civil Surgeon about the surge in Covid-19 cases in Patiala district, their contact tracing, testing, active cases in home isolation and private and government hospitals and a number of containment zones. Medical Superintendent of the Government Rajindra Hospital apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the arrangements done at Hospital as a tertiary care medical institution.
Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit apprised about the current situation in the district and said that the district administration was fully prepared to deal with any emergent situation in wake of COVID. Night curfew and other necessary measures have been taken by issuing prohibitory orders to contain the CORONA Virus, for which the entire machinery of civil and police administration is in operation.
Surabhi Malik, in-charge of Tertiary care COVID ward of Government Rajindra Hospital, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Pooja Sayal Grewal, SDM Patiala Charanjit Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Satinder Singh, Medical Superintendent Rajindra Hospital Dr. Harnam Singh Rekhi, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Vinod Dangwal were also present in the review meeting.
