Distribution of wheat and pulses in district continues under the PM’s Welfare Scheme for poor in Amritsar

The Food and Civil Supplies Department has been continuously providing pulses to the needy people in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis. Following the distribution of 10 lakh food packets by the Punjab Chief Minister in crisis across Punjab, the department is now distributing free wheat and pulses in the district under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.

Giving the above information, District Food and Supply Officer Lakhwinder Singh said that 15 kg wheat per family and 3 kg pulses per family were being distributed to the smart cardholders. He said that as per the quota received by the government from April to June, more than one lakh 80 thousand quintals of wheat and 9237 quintals of pulses have been received so far.

The District Officer said that this ration was being supplied to every cardholder and our teams were constantly monitoring this distribution so that no one could violate the rights of the poor. He said that to date we have distributed 69 thousand quintals of wheat and 3,327 quintals of pulses in the district which constitutes 38% of the total ration to be distributed.

He said that in order to prevent the spread of the virus, the face mask and the distance between the two were being taken care of and with the help of the esteemed people of the area, it was being ensured that the distance between the two was maintained. The district officer hoped that all the distribution work would be completed this week.
