Devotees to offer Namaz from homes in Jalandhar

In the wake of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the Muslim brethren of Jalandhar have decided to pay namaz from their homes to mark the holy festival of Eid on Monday.

A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held here at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police Jalandhar Balkar Singh during which many prominent leaders of the Muslim community were present.

During the meeting the Deputy Commissioner of Police said that owing to the global pandemic, people have been forced to celebrate major festivals from home. He said that as the danger of spreading this pandemic was still hovering, utmost care needs to be taken while celebrating the festival of Eid on Monday. Balkar Singh urged the delegations of the community to celebrate the festival by offering prayers from home.  

Taking part in meeting the delegation of the Muslim community led by the Member of Punjab Waqf Board Mohammed Kaleem Azad said that the community was fully sensitive to the efforts being made by the state government to check the spread of coronavirus in the state. They said that the community would extend complete support and cooperation to the Chief Minister in this hour of crisis and celebrate the festival of Eid by offering their prayers from home.

The delegation said that it was the need of the hour to save the humanity from the scourge of the pandemic.
