DC Tarn Taran issues unique disability identity cards to eligible beneficiaries

A special camp was organized today at Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) Patti to create a “Unique Disability Identity Card” (UDI) for the disabled in the district. During the camp Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran Mr. Kulwant Singh Eligible beneficiaries were given “Unique Disability Identity Cards” on the spot. On this occasion S. D. M. Mr. Rajesh Sharma, District Social Security Officer Mrs. Kiratpreet Kaur, Tehsildar Mr. Sarabjit Singh and B.Sc. D. P. . Mrs. Lakhwinder Kaur was also present. Speaking on the occasion the Deputy Commissioner said that this special camp was organized in the district for the Divyangajans who have not yet got the “Unique Disability Identity Card” (UIDID) card.

A total of 80 beneficiaries have applied for the “Unique Disability Identity Card” during the camp, out of which 10 beneficiaries were given the cards on the spot and the process of making cards for the remaining 70 beneficiaries is in progress and they will be issued within a week. Cards will be provided. He told the U.S. D. I. D.

The card is the only document that identifies and verifies people with multiple benefits. D. I. D. The card helps in monitoring the physical and financial progress of the beneficiaries at the national level. D. I. D. Under the project more special camps would be organized at block level. He said that Diwang people can also register themselves by visiting the website or through Village Service Centers, Suwidha Kendras.
