DC appeal to the people of Barnala to observe green diwali

Barnala, November 6

            Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr Tej Partap Singh Phoolka today called upon the residents of Barnala to celebrate this Diwali as Green Diwali and bid adieu to the pollution.

He added that to increase the charm of festivities, we should take utmost care in not creating any kind of noise or light pollution this festival. He said that already people were battling corona virus spread and if the forthcoming Diwali creates pollution, it would pose health problems to the people.

He added that the Self Help Groups being run in rural pockets of district are putting up stalls during Diwali mela being hosted at the DC Office Complex on November 11. The mela will be put up from 10 am to 2 pm. The mela will have stalls of handicrafts, food stalls. Also special children will be put up stall giving the message of green Diwali. A medical check up camp will also be held at the occasion.
