Covid effect: Virus’ epicentre Wuhan residents banned from consuming wild animals

China’s Wuhan, the epicentre of deadly coronavirus, has finally put a five-year ban on the trading of illegal wildlife and the consumption of wild animals.

According to the reports by CBS News, the officials in Wuhan announced the official ban on eating of all wild animals. As per the statement issued by Whan government, the decision was taken to protect people’s health and safety.

The decision has been taken as many countries and organizations were putting pressure on China to restrict illegal wildlife trade which is being blamed for the coronavirus pandemic.

Many scientists, animal rights activists, medical experts have called for a ban on wet markets of China where animals like bats, cats, dogs, and pangolins are slaughtered and sold openly for eating.
