CM Bhagwant Mann takes on Centre over Agnipath Scheme

Chandigarh, June 17

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann slammed BJP-led central government over its decision on the Agnipath scheme. As the age limit for the recruitment of Agniveers has been increased from 21 to 23 years, Mann called it an insult to the Indian army. Mann said that the youths recruited in the army would not get any pension which is a betrayal for them.

“With the Centre’s new decision of increasing the upper age limit to 23 from 21 for recruitment under the Agnipath scheme for the year 2022, the youths would not get pensions at all. This is an insult to the army. There is also a betrayal of the youth of the country. The anger of the youth across the country is the result of an unintentional decision of the Centre. We demand the immediate reversal of this decision,” tweeted Mann.
