Chandigarh: Revenue Dept Patwari caught red-handed by Vigilance for taking bribe of Rs 4,000

The Vigilance team caught a patwari of revenue department while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a Chandigarh resident.

The accused has been identified as Vinod Kumar. On receipt of a complaint case, FIR No. 04/2021 under Sections 7 13(1) (B) 13 (2) of PC Act 1988 was registered against Vinod Kumar Patwari of Revenue Department Chandigarh.

The complainant alleged in his complaint that he was in need of copy of fard of his house for transfer purpose. When he approached the Patwari Office of Burail, he met Vinod Kumar, who demanded Rs. 5000 for doing his work. The matter after negotiation was settled for Rs. 4000. The complainant further alleged that he had already given 2000 to Vinod Kumar patwari and now he is demanding remaining Rs 2000 for handing him over the copy of fard of his house. A trap team consisting independent witnesses and officials of PS Vigilance was constituted under OSD Vigilance Deepak Yadav and Inspector Dalbir singh laid trap at the patwari office in Burail (Bhopal Singh stadium). The accused was arrested red handed while accepting the bribe amount and bribe amount of Rs. 2000 was also recovered from the accused.
