Chandigarh observes 1-day state mourning in respect of former Mauritius President

As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, Anerood Jugnauth, former Mauritius President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, Chandigarh administration will be observing one-day state mourning on Saturday. Anerood Jugnauth passed away on Thursday. “With profound sorrow, it is informed that Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Former President and Former Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius has passed away. As desired by the Government of India, the Chandigarh Administration has decided that as a mark of respect to the department dignitary one-day state-mourning will be observed throughout the Union Territory on June 5. The National Flag will be half-mast throughout the Union Territory Chandigarh where it is regularly flown and there will no official entertainment of the day,” the notice issued by Chandigarh Administration read.
