Behibal-Kotakpura case: Fired on protesters on the instruction of former DGP Saini claims witness

Behibal Kalan and Kotakpura shooting cases are constantly getting new revelations. A few days back, the SIT investigating the case had filed a 14-page challan in the court against the then SP Fazilka Bikramjit Singh, the then SHO Bajakhana Amarjit Singh Kular, Suhail Singh Brar of Faridkot and Pankaj Bansal of Moga.


In it, the SIT has revealed that on October 14, 2015, the then Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Kam IG Parmaraj Singh Umranangal had reached Kotakpura without any authority. He led the police force and took instructions from the then DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and fired on the protesters in Kotkapura and Behibal Kalan. Two people were killed in Behibal Kalan. Many people were seriously injured in both the places.
According to SIT, there were 22 phone conversations between IG Umranangal and DGP Saini on October 14, 2015 from 4:01 am to 11:39 am.

On the other hand, the police party led by SSP Charanjit Singh Sharma took action against the people sitting on a peaceful dharna in Behibal Kalan without any rights and under the law. In both these cases, the then DGP Saini has been named , while in the Kotakpura case, the already named IG Umranangal has also been framed in the Behibal case.
