District Magistrate Amritsar S. Gurpreet Singh Khaira exercised his powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 , under the jurisdiction of District Police Chief Amritsar (Rural) in District Amritsar. Orders have been issued to ban all movement from 8.30 pm to 5 am within a radius of 500 meters from the border barbed wire . The ban will be strictly enforced until January 19 , 2021 .
The orders said that the movement of unwanted elements on the Indo-Pak border in Amritsar district could endanger the security of the Indo-Pak border , peace and tranquility of the country , thereby deteriorating the law and order situation. Fear remains. Therefore, in order to protect and prevent the loss of life and property of the people, it is necessary to issue prohibition orders on any movement within a radius of 500 meters from the Indo-Pak border from 8.30 pm to 5 am .
