Launching a scathing attack on SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal for his new found love for SCs and OBCs, Congress leader Damanvir Phillaur said in a statement given here that Sukhbir is just shedding crocodile tears to grab votes of SCs and OBCs. “He didn’t do anything for them while being in power but is now making hollow promises,” said Phillaur.
He added, “It was the Badal’s who had cancelled a ministerial berth of S. Sarwan S. Phillaur a towering SC leader in 2007 even though he was a 4 time MLA from Doaba area & instead Bikram Singh Majithia brother-in- law of Sukhbir who had won for the first time was made a minister. Isn’t this anti SC and Doaba? So, Sukhbir Badal has no right to make these statements and that too in Doaba.”
Phillaur further asked, “If Badals are so true to SCs’ & Doaba then can Sukhbir tell how many lecturers were inducted in government colleges of Doaba where most SC students go for education? Badal’s also need to answer why they let AIIMS go to Bathinda when Jalandhar was a central place & would have served all of Punjab well, moreover there are maximum poor SCs’ and OBCs’ located in Doaba, who would have benefitted from the inexpensive treatment.”
Phillaur also stated that the empty chairs during Sukhbir’s rally in Jalandhar points to the fact that Akali Dal has been exposed in many ways. “The panthic vote has already gone away from them and the Akali’s involvement with framing of the 3 anti-farmer laws during Akali Dal’s alliance with BJP has turned farmers too against the party. The Akalis bluff has been called and all segments of voters will be voting against them,” said Phillaur while terming the rally in Jalandhar as a mere poll eve hype by the SAD chief.
Expressing surprise over the ‘innocence and ignorance’ of BSP leaders, Phillaur said that they didn’t ever have guts to ask Sukhbir if he did anything for them while being in power.
Urging people not to lower their guard as merchants of power are on prowl, Phillaur said: “Now Punjab has no respect for lies and deceits. People & farmers are ready to teach the Akalis a lesson in the upcoming polls.”
