Faridabad, June 19
Around 500 police personnel have been posted in Ballabgarh sub-division of the district to keep vigil against any untoward incident related to protest against Agnipath scheme.
Over 65 youths had been rounded up by the police on Friday for resorting to stone-pelting that took place on the national highway near Anaj Mandi in Ballabgarh as part of the protest. The protest continued for half an hour before the protesters were dispersed by the police on Friday.
A spokesperson of the district police said that as part of the measures to prevent any violence, the district police have posted around 500 police personnel in Ballabgarh subdivision.
He said Commissioner of Police Vikash Kumar Arora visited the bus stand in Ballabgarh to take stock of the situation and directed the police to take strict action against any violent incident.
Appealing to the residents not to indulge in violence, Arora said that police was ready to deal with any incident. Claiming that the situation was peaceful and remained under control on Saturday with no report of any protest, he said patrolling and checking at ‘nakas’ would continue.
He said the majority of the rounded-up youths had been released by their families. Section 144 continues to remain in effect.
